Echoes of China was a Chinese New Year concert held at Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music, London, on 8 February 2026. Bringing together guzheng musicians and other performers, the concert celebrated Chinese musical heritage through live performance and cross-cultural exchange. The event was supported by the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the UK and the Chinese National Academy of Arts.

Tea for Harmony: Yaji Cultural Salon — was held in London on 18 May 2026. Inspired by the Chinese tradition of yaji—gatherings centred on tea, music and artistic exchange. The event was hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province, with support from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom.

Cambridge Chinese Music & Culture Festival takes place in Cambridge since 2024, celebrating Chinese traditional music and cultural exchange through a diverse programme of concerts, talks, academic discussions and cultural activities. Hosted across several Cambridge venues, including Trinity Hall, Trinity College Chapel and Storey’s Field Centre, the festival showcases Chinese instrumental music, the guqin tradition and hands-on cultural experiences, while also exploring dialogue between Chinese and Western musical traditions.

As a guzheng artist, Joy has participated in Chinese folk music showcases that bring together performers of traditional Chinese instruments and contemporary interpretations of Chinese music. Working alongside musicians from different instrumental backgrounds, she introduces the expressive possibilities of the guzheng through solo performances and collaborative presentations. Her work aims to build cultural connections by bringing Chinese musical traditions into dialogue with international audiences.

Joy was invited by Ewan Campbell, Director of Studies in Music at Churchill College and Murray Edwards College, to give a series of guzheng recitals at both colleges. Her programmes introduced traditional and contemporary guzheng music, including her own compositions, to new audiences in Cambridge.

Joy was invited to perform the guzheng at the UK Chinese Women Connect (UKCWC) Awards Ceremony, celebrating the achievements and contributions of Chinese women in the UK. Through her performance, she shared the beauty of Chinese traditional music with an audience of professionals, community leaders and cultural representatives. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the guzheng as a living art form and highlighted Joy’s role in promoting cultural exchange through music.

At the Queen’s College May Ball, University of Cambridge, Joy performed the guzheng in the historic Queen’s College Chapel as part of the late-night artistic programme. ​The intimate atmosphere of the Chapel provided a unique setting for her performance, allowing audiences to experience the expressive qualities of the guzheng beyond a conventional concert environment.
